Willow Bark Tincture
White Willow Bark (Salix alba) is analgesic (pain relieving), a gentile nervine, antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory. It is also a rich source of salicin, from which aspirin is derived. Historically Willow Bark has been one of the most widely used anti-inflammatory botanicals, primarily for the treatment of arthritic symptoms.
Willow Bark is known to provide relief from headaches, stress, inflammation, back pain, arthritis and cramps. Willow Bark is also a febrifuge and antiseptic and has been used as a support when experiencing colds and fevers.
Willow Bark’s bitter properties can also support metabolism and digestion and has also been used to assist with mensural irregularity.
Willow holds presence in deep time and assists in moving through cycles of regeneration. Willow can be called on to relax and soften, open the heart, move stuck energy and grief from the body. This grandmotherly plant can also be called on for guidance and dreaming.
Ingredients
Salix alba (wildcrafted), vodka, organic vegetable glycerine (<10%).
Contraindications
If you are allergic to aspirin or salicylates, Willow Bark is contraindicated. Other contraindications include individuals who are pregnant and breastfeeding, children and for those with severe asthma, diabetes or kidney/liver disorders.
Use
Take intuitively, as needed. 1 tsp/5ml directly into the mouth or added to 1/2 cup of water before drinking. Can be drop dosed (note: due to constituents of the bark and alcohol, undiluted tincture can produce mild numbness and tingling on direct contact with lips/tongue/mouth).
Peak potency within their first 2 years after purchase. Potency and shelf-life can be affected with prolonged exposure to light, heat and moisture. Store in a cool, dark, dry place where possible.
